Position Purpose

The Foundation for Ageing and Inclusive Development (FAID) is a national organization dedicated to promoting inclusive development, enabling people of all ages—especially older people—to lead dignified, healthy, and secure lives. FAID will implement the project titled "Sustainable Solutions for Food Security and Hunger Crisis Mitigation (SSHCM)" in Shikarpur District, Sindh, Pakistan from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, supported through HelpAge Deutschland and funded by ADH Germany. The project aims to address severe food insecurity affecting vulnerable populations—particularly older people, women, and persons with disabilities—through an inclusive, multi-sectoral approach. Key objectives include improving food security, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, empowering women through home-based enterprises, enhancing community nutrition knowledge, and advocating for the inclusion of older people in food and disaster planning. The project will benefit 10,040 people through activities such as food distribution, farmer training, seed and mobility aid provision, vocational training with micro-grants, nutrition education, and policy advocacy. Monitoring, impact assessments, and a strong focus on age, gender, and disability inclusion underpin the project’s commitment to sustainable and resilient community development.

 

The Social Mobilizer will play a central role in implementing the SSHCM project at the grassroots level. The position is responsible for identifying, engaging, and supporting targeted beneficiaries throughout the project cycle. The mobilizer will support the assessment and registration of beneficiaries for food distribution, vocational training, farming inputs, and assistive devices. The role involves facilitating community outreach, organizing events and awareness sessions, and serving as a liaison between the community, project team, and relevant stakeholders. The Social Mobilizer will ensure that the project reaches vulnerable households, older people, women, and persons with disabilities through inclusive targeting, timely mobilization, and ongoing support. This includes active participation in pre-distribution assessments, registration processes, monitoring, and follow-up with beneficiaries to ensure transparency, accountability, and learning. The position also contributes to the successful implementation of nutrition education, school-based campaigns, market linkage support, and data collection for MEAL activities.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of Social Mobilizers are included:

1-     Community Mobilization and Engagement

-        Mobilize and engage communities, particularly older people, women, and vulnerable households, to raise awareness about food security, inclusive agriculture, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods.

-        Support the identification, activation, and involvement of community-based structures including Older People’s Associations (OPAs) and women groups in planning and implementation.

-        Ensure meaningful participation and representation of older people, women-headed households, and persons with disabilities in all project activities.

2-     Beneficiary Assessment, Registration, and Follow-up

-        Conduct community-based identification, need assessments, and transparent registration of beneficiaries for food distribution, vocational training, agricultural inputs, and assistive device support.

-        Facilitate household visits and individual follow-ups to ensure assistance is received, understood, and appropriately utilized.

-        Maintain proper documentation and support verification processes in collaboration with the MEAL team.

3-     Support for Food Distribution and Livelihood Activities

-        Coordinate and support timely and inclusive food package distributions, ensuring smooth processes, accurate documentation, and appropriate handling of complaints.

-        Assist in the implementation of vocational trainings, micro-grant follow-ups, and market linkage activities for women entrepreneurs.

-        Support the distribution of farming inputs (seeds, mobility aids) and monitor use and outcomes among beneficiary farmers, including persons with disabilities.

4-     Support to Nutrition Education and Awareness Campaigns

-        Facilitate community sessions and school-based campaigns focused on dietary diversity, hygiene, kitchen gardening, and malnutrition prevention.

-        Ensure that older people, children, and pregnant/lactating women (PLWs) are reached through customized awareness messaging and educational tools.

-        Support IEC material dissemination and encourage intergenerational learning and knowledge-sharing.

5-     Inclusion, Safeguarding, and Community Accountability

-        Promote inclusive and dignified engagement of all groups regardless of age, gender, or disability in all project processes.

-        Follow FAID’s safeguarding and protection protocols, reporting any incidents or risks immediately to the Project Coordinator.

-        Support the implementation of Complaint and Response Mechanisms (CRM) and assist in Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) activities.

-        Foster a safe, respectful, and accessible environment during field interactions and ensure no harm to beneficiaries.

Specific duties and responsibilities

The specific duties and responsibilities for the position holder are including:

  1. Conduct community outreach and mobilization to identify and register eligible beneficiaries for each component of the project.
  2. Participate in beneficiary need assessments and support transparent targeting based on predefined selection criteria.
  3. Support the distribution of food packages, farming inputs, and assistive devices, ensuring proper documentation (receipts, signatures, photos).
  4. Conduct pre- and post-distribution monitoring and share observations with the MEAL team.
  5. Provide field-level support for organizing vocational training sessions for women and ensure their active participation.
  6. Facilitate follow-up visits to women entrepreneurs and trained farmers to track progress and report feedback.
  7. Assist in conducting nutrition education sessions, school awareness events, and dissemination of IEC materials.
  8. Maintain beneficiary records, meeting minutes, attendance sheets, and progress updates in coordination with the project team.
  9. Work closely with local leaders of OPAs and community-based organizations to enhance project acceptance and community ownership.
  10. Report protection and safeguarding issues in the field promptly to the Project Coordinator.
  11. Support case study collection, success story documentation, and CRM reporting in coordination with MEAL staff.
  12. Ensure gender, age, and disability-sensitive approaches in all interactions and mobilization activities.
  13. Contribute to the preparation of weekly and monthly activity reports and share updates during review meetings.

Required qualifications and experience

ü  Minimum bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Rural Development, Community Health, Agriculture, or any other relevant field.

ü  Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in community mobilization, preferably in food security, nutrition, agriculture, or women empowerment projects.

ü  Experience in conducting beneficiary assessments, household surveys, registrations, and community-based targeting.

ü  Familiarity with distribution processes, especially food, farming inputs, or cash-based assistance.

ü  Experience in organizing or facilitating community awareness sessions, trainings, or field campaigns.

ü  Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to work with diverse groups including older people, women, and persons with disabilities.

ü  Good communication and facilitation skills in local languages (Sindhi essential; Urdu desirable).

ü  Ability to maintain accurate records, complete field reports, and support in MEAL documentation.

ü  Knowledge of safeguarding principles and commitment to upholding inclusion and protection standards.

ü  Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including during field visits in remote or hard-to-reach areas.

ü  Willingness to travel frequently within district Shikarpur and to rural union councils as needed.

ü  Prior experience working with community-based organizations, older people’s groups, or women’s networks will be an advantage.
